Liz Gori, MS, CHMC Clinical Intern Pre-teens, Teens and Family Therapy

My Education

I am pursuing my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, specializing in childhood and adolescent mental health, from Grand Canyon University. I earned my bachelor’s degree in family and human development at Arizona State University in 2012, which has laid a solid foundation for understanding adolescents unique needs and how they communicate.

My Professional Journey

My journey to counseling is deeply personal, having overcome significant challenges during adolescence and experiencing firsthand the transformative power of therapy. Before pursuing counseling, I dedicated six years to teaching and engaging with students across elementary, high school, and special education settings. Now, I embark on a second career fueled by a desire to support teenagers and their families through their trials. Rooted in a client-centered and solution-focused approach, I prioritize empowering individuals to discover their strengths and navigate life's complexities.

 My specialties include:

  • Teens

  • Children

  • Elderly

  • Families

  • Young Adults

  • Client-Centered Therapy

  • Career Counseling

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • Emotion Regulation

  • Expressive Arts Interventions

  • Life Transitions

  • Self-Harm

  • Specific Learning Disabilities

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

In Addition to Therapy

Outside of the counseling office, I enjoy reading, dancing, taking hot yoga classes, making jewelry, and doing the NYT crossword puzzle. I have traveled to many countries including Spain, Italy, Costa Rica, Mexico, Portugal, Germany, and the UK. My favorite ways to practice self-care are by engaging in my own therapy, nurturing close relationships, spending quality time with my partner, meditating, playing with my dogs (Lady and Delilah), and sleeping in whenever possible!
